After years of delays the new Ariane 6 rocket lifted off at 9:01 p.m. PDT on July 8 2024. This marked a milestone for the European launch industry.

Ariane 6: A Heavy-Lift Rocket for Europe

The Ariane 6 is a heavy-lift rocket capable of carrying payloads weighing up to 103 tons into low Earth orbit. It is designed for reuse and will replace the Ariane 5 rocket which made its final flight in July 2023.

The inaugural flight of the Ariane 6 used the 56-meter-long 62 variant with two solid boosters. The rocket performed flawlessly during its flight and successfully delivered its payload into orbit.

A New Beginning for European Space

The successful launch of the Ariane 6 is a significant achievement for the European space industry. It marks a new era for European launch capabilities and will allow Europe to remain competitive in the global space market.

Ariane 6 is scheduled to launch on 9 July 2024 with a launch window from 1500-1900 local time at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.
