German Government Admission Programme for People From Afghanistan

Procedures for the departure of people

The German government has set up a federal admission programme together with civil society organisations. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) manages the admission and distribution of people arriving from Afghanistan.

Afghan nationals in Afghanistan who have campaigned for women's rights and human rights should benefit from this programme.

Why is there a federal admission programme for Afghanistan?

The federal admission programme was set up in response to the political situation in Afghanistan. In August 2021, the Taliban took over the country. Since then, there have been human rights violations and threats to life and limb for many people.

Who qualifies for admission under this programme?

The following people are eligible for admission under the federal admission programme:

  • Afghan nationals living in Afghanistan
  • Who have worked for the German government or a German organisation
  • Who have campaigned for women's rights and human rights
  • Who are at risk of persecution or death
